Winter's Bone Mise en Scene

In class, we watched Winter's Bone. I found the film to be very interesting, but I would not consider this to be a film I'd watch again. I did not like the setting nor the lighting of the film. I found the setting very boring as it was just the trees with dead leaves. I thought the darkened light hurt the film as it just made everything so much more subtle and boring. I also did not like how quiet the film was. I felt that you had to figure much out on your own just by watching without much listening. Although I did not like the film very much, these are some pretty cool shots I posted down below. The first shows much Mise en Scene using the color tone, and the set design. Here, we see clothes hanging on the line, a bike in the back, and lastly nothing but hills and the woods. The second shot has a very cool framing using a bit of symmetry as well. I think it is really cool showing the older sister, who is the tallest, to stand in the middle while the two younger siblings that are smaller are standing on the sides. On both sides, all we see are dying trees. It is overall a very cool shot that I find very interesting.
