Hard Work Pays Off

While I was planning for my film, Hard Work Pays Off, I first thought of doing something that was simple and basic. I started coming up with some slides and as I finished my third slide I could tell I wasn't happy with my idea. I wanted a film that was engaging and interesting. I wanted something different, but that was also relevant to many peoples lives right now. I thought "how can I make this interesting but also include a realistic scenario".  I finally came up with an idea. As we know, Coronavirus is impacting many peoples lives right now, but one thing that doesn't always come to mind when thinking about this virus are sports. There are some people that like to play sports just for fun, but then there are other people that really want to succeed in sports, and maybe even make collage or pro ball. This is affecting many kids that have worked extremely hard to get where they are in sports, and now their chances may get ruined. I wanted to make a film that exemplified the meaning of hard work. I wanted to show that if you are down and life sucks, still, never give up. Continue to try your best and your time will come. I first started off my film by showing a kid hit the game winning shot. I then added a picture of him getting an invite to join Duke basketball. Unfortunately, Coronavirus hit and he is now unable to play basketball at Duke. He feels that all of his work up to this moment was for nothing and that all his hopes and dreams are ruined. He realizes though, that he can't just give up. He has to continue to work hard and practice because he knows that his time will come. I feel that my film came out very well and that it is a lesson to all kids, letting them know to never give up and always try your best. The one thing that I would have changed about my film is to have videos instead of still photos, but all in all I think it was a lot of fun to make. The most successful part of this project was getting my story through, that way people could understand what was happening through the images. The part of the project that was least successful was being able to show the true emotions of my character because it would've been easier to see through videos. I learned how to edit photos and video's on Adobe Premier. I found this very interesting because hopefully there comes a time where I can make a real long movie.

These are some pictures from my film.
