Camera Movement Reflection

In this film, the main focus was camera movement. There are many different types of movements that you can use while filming to help create a certain type of scene. For example, using a hand-held camera movement might mean that the scene has something to do with action or running.

One camera movement that I used was a dolly camera movement. I sat on a rolling chair and had someone push me, as if I was slowly approaching the actor without walking. It created this cool slow motion affect.

Another camera movement I used was the pedestal movement, moving the camera from high to low. This was an interesting movement because you really had to be careful when holding the camera so that it would be a very slow and steady movement.

Once he finishes drinking water and says "okay, let's do this" I decided to use a zoom camera movement by zooming in on his face. This created a pretty cool shot from moving to a medium shot to an extreme close up shot.

I also used a tilt camera movement as the socks were being caught by Lucas. I chose to use a tilt camera movement for this shot because I really wanted to exaggerate the catch instead of just having the socks fall into Lucas's hands.

Once Lucas got on his bike I chose to use a hand-held camera movement and follow him for a little, really creating this action type shot.

For my last shot, I wanted to film it as if he was biking slowly out into the distance. I used an extreme long shot here and was focusing on a high/birds eye view angle for this shot. I chose to use a slow pan movement that way it would really look like he was slowly biking out into the distance.
