The Speed Cubers
The Speed Cubers is a documentary is about Max Park, a boy who has been diagnosed with autism, that has a strong passion for cubing (solving Rubik's cubes). He has a different way of seeing the world from most people, but that doesn't stop him from rising to the top and becoming one of the best cubers in the entire world. His inspiration is Feliks Zemdegs, another world record breaking cuber. Everything Feliks does, Max does. Although they are opponents, they are also great friends.
One of the things I really enjoyed about this film was seeing how good of a friend Feliks is to Max. As they mentioned in the film, there were times that Max would break one of Feliks's records, but Feliks would go on to send a congratulation text to Max. That really is an amazing friend. I also thought it was really interesting to see Max grow into the person he is today. It's not easy being different from others, and he proved that not only could he fit in along side regular people, but he can rise to the top too.
As I was watching this film, I noticed that they used a lot of B roll to play over when someone was talking. This made the film much more interesting because instead of just watching someone talk, we got to watch the actions they were doing too. I think the main message that this film is trying to send across is that anyone can do anything, as long as they put their mind to it. Overall, I think this was a really interesting and well put together film.
