Light Motivated Film (Man At The Door)

When I was first thinking of what to make this film about, I really didn't have any ideas. After thinking some more, I realized that I could make a horror film using scary lighting. Overall, I think the film came out really good and the lighting that I used helped create more of a scary image.

1. The first scene of the movie starts off with the boy playing video games. We see the fill light from the TV reflect off of the boys face and the rest of the room. What's cool about this scene is that the TV is changing colors, so we see different light contrasts here. The fill light is also focused on one half of the room, as we can see that the other side of the room is darker. There is also a key light used here pointing directly at the boys face, lightening it up compared to the rest of the room.

2. In this scene, we see a hard fill light pointed up at the boys face. This shot creates the illusion of mystery because he is wearing a top hat, covering his eyes. All we see is a bright light pointing up at the boys face. We also see that there are shadows of the hat on the boys neck and shirt, which is also another interesting piece about this shot. The fill light is used here to point at the boy's facial features, but we see that it is only pointed at a particular area on his face and not his entire body.

3. Here, we see a fill light pointed at the back of the man's neck. This is interesting because as the man walks, the light sometimes gets lighter or darker depending on where he is standing.

4. This is another interesting shot because we see the key light from the doorbell reflect off of the side of the boys face. This light is also reflecting off of the top of the boys hat. This is interesting because the rest of the boy's body is dark, except for where this light is reflecting.
