Mudbound

Image
Mudbound, directed by Dee Rees, is about the interaction of a non - colored family with a colored family taking place in the 1940s. It shows how people of color are still harshly discriminated against and that the world, even to a soldier coming home from war, doesn't change its ways.       The main theme of Mudbound is to show how in the 1940s, no matter what a colored person does, even if it is to protect their country, they will still be dismissed. The movie starts off by setting what is happening. They show soldiers going to war, many of them being white, but only a few being black. It also shows how a white family just bought a farm and has colored people working for them. They show how the white grandfather, Papi, treats the black family poorly. When the war ends, everyone comes home, including Ransel, the son of the colored family, and Jamie, the son of Papi. As they are coming home, Ransel goes to the store to surprise his family wi...

Camera Movement Blog Post

Camera Movement Blog Post Pan Shot:      In this shot at the end of The Dark Knight, we see a slow pan moving around Joker's body. To the audiance, this makes the world seem like it is revolving around the Joker and everything is set up according to his plan. This makes the shot very interesting, especially the fact that his clothes are flying the opposite way.  Static Shot:      In this shot of Home Alone, they realise they left Kevin at home. Everything is focused on the two parents having a conversation. Everything in the backround is still. This makes the audience focus directly on the speaker as opposed to other things going on in the back. This also helps form the scene as it is on a long trip to Paris and they are in first class where many of the passengers are sleeping. It creates stillness and a calm feeling at first, until Kevin's mother screams out "KEVIN!" Push In Shot:       In this shot of the Incredibles, the s...

I remember the film I made last year for this type of project was of two people talking about the NBA Finals. It is crazy to see how much I have learned in this past year and what I am now able to do. We also challenged ourselves to add him some types of shots that we haven't used before, such as the dolly shot. In my opinion, the use of the dolly was the most successful shot. It came out really clear and was overall a really good shot. I also think changing the color was successful too because it created some...
