60 Second Film Challenge

Image
I wanted to make a 60 second film about rushing to get ready for school. I chose this topic because I wake up too late and am always rushing to get ready for school, so this is something I could relate to. When I first wrote the script, I had many more actions than there were in the final film. I realized that my film was going to be way over the 60 second mark and that I had to cut about half of my script out. I also realized that it would be better if I added more camera angles into the film, which also helped with jump cuts too.      The hardest part of this film was getting it to 60 seconds. It took many edits and cuts, but in the end I really think it came out amazing. Although I had to take away half of the film, it still came out to be what I imagined and I had a lot of fun with this challenge.  Script:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TdyZQRusSnMkQ7auhLeJnynGaMKOb5ei7r-WmS9uJXY/edit  Storyboard: https://docs.go...

Soundscape

This was an interesting film to make because on one hand it was very easy, but on the other hand it was quite complicated. The actual filming and editing of the sounds was easy, but thinking of a plot was more challenging. I didn't know what to do so I started to think of sounds that I hear in my daily life. Now because were are living in a covid world, I haven't been able to hear a lot of different sounds lately, so I chose to make a video of all the sounds that happen when I come home from a day of school. On a usual day, I get out of the car, wash up, eat, and then go do my homework, and that's exactly what I did here. I think it turned out really good and I think that just watching this film interests me because even though I know what happened visually, the people watching the film have to visualize what is happening based on the sounds they are hearing. Overall, I really enjoyed making this film and would like to continue making films like this in the future.

The Speed Cubers

Image
The Speed Cubers is a documentary is about Max Park, a boy who has been  diagnosed with autism, that has a strong passion for cubing (solving Rubik's cubes). He has a different way of seeing the world from most people, but that doesn't stop him from rising to the top and becoming one of the best cubers in the entire world. His inspiration is Feliks Zemdegs, another world record breaking cuber. Everything Feliks does, Max does. Although they are opponents, they are also great friends.      One of the things I really enjoyed about this film was seeing how good of a friend Feliks is to Max. As they mentioned in the  film, there were times that Max would break one of Feliks's records, but Feliks would go on to send a congratulation text to Max. That really is an amazing friend. I also thought it was really interesting to see Max grow into the person he is today. It's not easy being different from others, and he proved that not only could he fit ...
