Light Motivated Film (Man At The Door)

Image
When I was first thinking of what to make this film about, I really didn't have any ideas. After thinking some more, I realized that I could make a horror film using scary lighting. Overall, I think the film came out really good and the lighting that I used helped create more of a scary image.  1. The first scene of the movie starts off with the boy playing video games. We see the fill light from the TV reflect off of the boys face and the rest of the room. What's cool about this scene is that the TV is changing colors, so we see different light contrasts here. The fill light is also focused on one half of the room, as we can see that the other side of the room is darker. There is also a key light used here pointing directly at the boys face, lightening it up compared to the rest of the room. 2. In this scene, we see a hard fill light pointed up at the boys face. This shot creates the illusion of mystery because he is wearing a...

3 Point Lighting

For this shot in Rocky, the 3 point lighting creates a sense of loneliness to me because the fill light doesn't look to be very bright, and it looks as if the key light and the back light are brighter. The shot size is a close shot which is allows the person watching the movie to see the emotions on Rocky's face. Behind Rocky, the door and light are also blurry, which allows us to really focus on Rocky himself. With this, they are able to make it feel as if the room is dark, and that he is now lonely and staring off into the distance.  In this shot, the fill light and the key light are used to show that Rocky is doing something. We see that his eyes are focused on something and that he is in the process of working on or making something as well. The back light isn't very bright because whatever is behind Rocky is dark. This looks to be a medium close up shot, once again, focusing on Rocky's facial expressions. One of the things I like a lot about the lighting in this...

Documentary

Image
When I first heard that we were going to make a documentary film, I knew exactly who I was going to interview. I wanted to interview my brother and make a basketball highlight documentary for him. I thought that this could be very cool because over the Summer I watched the Michael Jordan documentary, and felt that I could do something similar to that with my brother.      It was pretty easy to come up with questions because I play basketball too, and I know what it feels like to be the leader on the court. With that in mind, you must have a certain personality that fits the role of the leader. I used that thought process to come up with questions to ask my brother. Some of the questions that I asked were "who do you look up to?", "where do you get your motivation from?", "what is it like to be apart of a team?", etc.       I really enjoyed making this film because it felt like I was the director, writer, cameraman, and the editor. This was al...
